Environmentally Sound Dirt Work

HMI distinguishes itself as a comprehensive environmental firm offering heavy equipment services. We integrate dirtwork services with our in-depth understanding of soil suitability, erosion control, vegetation management, hydrologic reconstruction, wildlife habitat and GIS. From design and planning to final construction and revegetation, we maintain in-house oversight to ensure timely, cost effective and safety-compliant work products. Our earthmoving staff has significant combined experience in all sectors of the mining industry.

HMI’s staff of construction managers has a combined experience of over 200 years in heavy equipment operation and management, construction management, environmental reclamation, and business management. HMI’s staff members are skilled in all aspects of heavy construction, earthwork, and reclamation and can provide the site specific services many clients demand.

Mass Excavation

Habitat Management, Inc. is experienced in large-scale earth moving and can perform mass excavation for topsoil, waste rock and mine tailings. Efficient hauling and placement of materials can be completed in a variety of settings and adverse site conditions.

River Channel Reconstruction

HMI offers river channel reconstruction, habitat enhancement and management of stream channel flows. Project completion includes design, construction management, post-construction revegetation, water sampling, wetland mitigation and wetland monitoring.

Final Grading with Natural Regrade

HMI uses innovative geomorphic methods to construct post-mining topography. This method integrates site-specific environmental data in the design process. Graders and dozers can be guided with GPS instruments to achieve design accuracy. Geomorphic post-mining topography designs create sustainable landscapes. We have successfully amended stormwater permits to include this new approach to stormwater management.
