Natural Resources Inventories & Monitoring
We design and implement environmental baseline studies, threatened and endangered species inventories and monitoring programs. We are committed to accurately documenting existing conditions and the effectiveness of mitigation, reconstruction and enhancement programs. Our specialities require vegetation surveys and inventories, soil surveys and soil and overburden management.
Vegetation Surveys & Inventories
Our experienced scientists specialize in collecting information from native vegetation communities and croplands in the western United States to create vegetation inventories and baseline surveys.
- Absolute cover
- Relative cover
- Biomass productivity
- Frequency Diversity
- Hydrologic cover
- Woody plant density
- Species presence
- Forest mensuration
Soil Surveys & Inventories
Our team has extensive combined experience in soil evaluation, and salvage and replacement plans. Our Certified Professional Soil Scientist specializes in baseline soil mapping and characterization studies, as well as design and application of fertilizer and soil amendments. We supply sampling and support equipment, including a Giddings soil probe.
Soil & Overburden Management
We develop and implement acid-forming and toxic-forming material handling and mitigation plans in order to evaluate suitability for plant growth.
We also design and implement sampling plans to identify plant growth-limiting materials, including burned and hydrophobic soils, high coarse fragment contents, steep slopes, acid, seleniferous, sodic and saline materials.
Deliverables require
- Waste characterization & remediation
- Alluvial valley floor (AVF) determinations & wetland soil delineations
- Evaluations of fire-effected soils
- Evaluations of overburden suitability, alternate topsoil material justifications & sampling plans
- Minesoil suitability sampling
- Piezometer installation
- Site grading & soil preparation
